Role Purpose
 
The HR/Payroll Applications Support Analyst is responsible for supporting, developing and managing all HR & Payroll systems across the Punch Group. This includes:
  • providing technical support to users of the systems;
  • working with stakeholders and users to ensure the processes supported by these systems are optimised;
  • working with systems suppliers and end users to identify opportunities for improvement/development and deliver these improvements in a timely and cost effective way.
Key Accountabilities
  • Provides day to day support for queries, problems and changes to systems
  • Provide out of hours support on a rota basis
  • Ensure that SLA's are maintained for all appropriate HR/Payroll systems
  • Work with end users and suppliers to identify and analyse opportunities for improving the existing HR/Payroll systems
  • Work with end users and suppliers to understand and optimise the business processes supported by the HR/Payroll systems
  • Work with the Applications Project Manager and the Projects Co-ordinator to assist in the design and development of new project plans and business cases
  • Work with the Commercial IT Manager and HR/Payroll and MIS Systems Manager to ensure appropriate contracts are in place with suppliers
  • Work with the Applications Technology Team and Infrastructure Team to ensure that HR/Payroll systems are supported, developed and maintained within the agreed IT policies and standards
  • Ensure that changes to HR/Payroll systems are developed and tested in accordance with IT policies, methodologies and standards
  • Create appropriate documentation for HR/Payroll systems to facilitate support and change management
  • Ensure an effective DR Plan exists to provide appropriate disaster cover for all HR/Payroll systems, changes to HR/Payroll systems are reflected in the DR plan and the DR plan tested at least once a year
  • Ensure investment in a Continuous Professional Development plan to keep technology and specialist skills up to date

Qualifications

 

 

  • At least 2 years experience of working with relevant technologies (Trent/Oracle/Unix, PALM/DOS/Business Objects Reporting)
  • Understanding of HR/Payroll best practice processes (H2R, Salary Review process, Appraisal process, Weekly and Monthly Payroll Runs, Tax Year End, P11D production etc)
  • Experience of relationship management and realistic expectations setting in a demanding client base
  • Experience of working in a fast paced retail environment with quick turnaround times
  • Experience of working with large scale IT application developments
  • Solid experience of using, implementing and supporting HR/Payroll systems
  • Ideally more than 2 cycles of experience implementing similar applications or projects elsewhere

  • Takes ownership for own Continuous Professional Development ensuring keeps technical & professional knowledge up to date
In addition, the following skills are expected for this role:
  • Excellent HR/Payroll systems technical skills in particular Trent and PALM
  • Good understanding of HR/Payroll business processes e.g. Hire to Retire etc
  • Very customer focused and understands the impact on the business if HR/Payroll systems are unavailable
  • Strong supplier management skills with the ability to make 3rd party relationships work effectively and deliver real benefits
